You can check the number on the MCS installer register before we visit. ### Why does MCS certification matter for a heat pump? The £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant is only paid when an MCS certified installer fits the heat pump. MCS also sets how the system is designed: a room by room heat loss calculation, a heat pump sized to the house and noise checked against the neighbours. ### How do I check an installer's certifications? Ask for the registration numbers and look them up yourself: MCS on mcscertified.com, the Renewable Energy Consumer Code on recc.org.uk, NICEIC on niceic.com, Gas Safe on gassaferegister.co.uk and TrustMark on trustmark.org.uk. Every link is on this page. ### Which certificates will I get after a heat pump installation? An MCS installation certificate, an Electrical Installation Certificate, confirmation that the work was notified under building regulations, notification to your electricity network operator, and the manufacturer warranty registered in your name. We also apply for the grant and redeem it for you. ### Does a heat pump installer need to be Gas Safe registered? Not to fit the heat pump itself, which is not gas work. Disconnecting the gas boiler it replaces is gas work, and only a Gas Safe registered business may do it. We are registered, so it happens in the same job with no second contractor. ### What is the Renewable Energy Consumer Code? A consumer code approved by the Chartered Trading Standards Institute that covers how renewable systems are sold: written quotations and contracts, protected deposits and an independent dispute service.
