Vaillant Heat Pump and Battery Installation, Morden SM4
Between 29 October and 4 November 2026 our engineers replaced the gas boiler at a house in Morden, SM4, with a Vaillant air source heat pump, and fitted a Fox ESS home battery on the same wall outside.

The boiler cupboard now holds the hot water
The house had a Vaillant gas boiler in a cupboard off the living space. The boiler came out, and a hot water cylinder now stands in the same cupboard, piped in copper with its expansion vessels, so nothing new had to find room inside the house.
The Vaillant controls sit in the cupboard below the cylinder, where an engineer can reach them at the yearly service without moving anything else.
One tidy wall outside
The heat pump is a two-fan Vaillant monobloc. It stands on anti-vibration feet on a concrete base at the side of the house, with the pipework run low along the foot of the wall.
Beside it are three rotary isolators, then the Fox ESS H1 5 kW hybrid storage inverter on the wall and the Fox ESS CQ7 battery on its own slab below it. The battery uses lithium iron phosphate cells, and every cable between the inverter, the battery and the house runs in black conduit.
New electrics for the new load
A heat pump and a battery change what the house asks of its supply, so we made up a new consumer unit for the house as part of the job.
